York YMCA Girls Club Volleyball
The York YMCA Girls Volleyball Club is part of the Keystone Region Volleyball Association (KRVA), the USAV, and is in its 13th season. The club takes great pride in the integrity of the program, its directors, coaches, players and parents, and is affordable with fundraising and financial assistance available. The Club 1) Provides a competitive volleyball experience that values teamwork, responsibility, sportsmanship and fun in the pursuit of excellence for girls from throughout York County. 2). Enhances players individual skill development through quality coaching and off court training. 3). Enhances players character development through quality coaching and community service opportunities. 4). Competes in local tournaments (approximately two per month per team) and a few tournaments outside the region.
All girls from age 12-18, all skill levels and members and non-members are invited to attend try-outs (typically begin in October). After joining a team, players will pay approximately $120-$175 a month from December through April or May. The final monthly amount will be dependent upon the number of players on the team, number of tournaments entered, and cost of tournaments. Monthly fundraisers are provided to help offset the cost. All players must also gain a youth or family YMCA membership during the months of club v-ball. A “youth” membership is just $21 a month. The YMCA membership is utilized throughout the season with available training sessions in the weight room and pool. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify for the membership and volleyball monthly dues.
Practices are typically held for two hours on Sunday afternoons or early evenings, and one weekday evening each week, with the practice locations available being the York YMCA, Dover YMCA, Southern Branch YMCA (Shrewsbury),First Church of the Brethren (East York), and other possible locations.
